What is a Freedom Firm?
There’s a lot of bullshit out there about “freedom” for business owners.
This ain’t that.
You’re not going to see photos of me on a private jet or sitting on the beach with my laptop.
(beaches aren’t made for laptops)
We’re going to take a real and systematic approach to turning your professional service business into the vehicle for freedom…
…instead of being a prison with a life sentence.
See, professional services are the most difficult of all to find freedom…
(consultants, lawyers, doctors, accountants, financial advisors, agencies…anyone who gets paid for their expertise…you know this)
The business is intimately linked to YOU.
Transforming that kind of business into one that gives you real freedom is a delicate exercise.
But it is VERY possible.
Together, let’s go there.
So let’s define what we mean by a Freedom Firm.
1. The business grows without you.
2. The business creates compounding wealth.
3. The business enables your creative genius.
#1… GROWS WITHOUT YOU
Growth is disconnected from your time.
You get increasingly more output from every unit of time input.
Most firms are designed for linear growth.
The more you want to grow, the more time and effort you have to put in.
There’s no way to win that game, because time is finite.
A business built to grow without you escapes the linear growth trap.
It leverages the power law and exponential growth.
This is time freedom.
#2… COMPOUNDS WEALTH
You shift the business from one that simply pays the bills to one that grows wealth.
That means growing your Money Margin.
It means focusing on income stream and enterprise asset value.
It means positioning yourself above the fray (where premium fees and top 1% clients live).
This is money freedom.
#3… ENABLES CREATIVE GENIUS
If you’re a business owner… entrepreneur… you are a creative genius.
You might not know it, but it’s essential to the role.
Your creative genius might not be directly linked to your business.
It might be a pursuit outside the business.
One that you don’t have time to pursue right now.
Churchill famously painted and wrote outside of his political work. He was prolific, even during the darkest days of WWII.
For too many business owners, the creative genius is pushed to the back room and never sees the light of day.
The fires are burning and need your attention.
But creativity is where the next business breakthrough will surface.
Today’s business must create space for the creative genius to work out tomorrow’s business transformation.
For me, that’s writing and golf.
My business creates two hours a day for me to plop my ass in a chair at my favorite coffee shop and write.
Writing is thinking;
thinking is leadership;
leadership is leverage.
And the solitude of a golf course is where the subconscious pulls it all together, while I’m consciously focused on getting that damn ball in the hole.
What’s it for you?
This is creative freedom.
Why Build a Freedom Firm
Do I even need to answer that question?
Look, we all got into entrepreneurship because of the promise of freedom.
Plain and simple.
Freedom from that boss that we were smarter than…
Freedom to give our family prosperity…
Freedom to set our own schedule…
Freedom to do it “our way”…
It’s baked into every entrepreneur I know.
But we shut down that dream once we realize we’ve created a prison for ourselves, just locked the door, and threw out the key.
